Planning ahead makes a huge difference for me.  If I have done food prep in advance and have healthy options available, I’m much more likely to make good choices.  Here are some of my favorite food prep tips.
1.  Wash (and cut) produce as soon as you get home from the grocery store.  Store it at eye level in the refrigerator instead of the drawer at the bottom.
2.  Portion out nuts, crackers, or fruits into small snack bags.  These are great for grabbing on the go.
3.  Keep fruit and nuts in your car, desk, bag, or purse.  You are less likely to have a food emergency if you have snacks available.
4.  Have protein cooked and ready to throw a meal together.  I keep hardboiled eggs in the fridge.  I cook chicken breasts early in the week and shred them to put on salads, in wraps, and with veggies.  I regularly cook 5 lbs. of ground turkey and put 1 lb. in each freezer bag.  These are great to pull out to put on homemade pizzas, tacos, spaghetti, eggs, etc.
5.  Use your crockpot!  Putting a meal on in the morning will make dinner easier.  There’s nothing like walking into smell dinner cooking at the end of a long day.  Check out one of our favorite crockpot recipes below.
6.  Freeze left-overs in individual portions.  These heat easily for quick meals.
